Gov. Whitmer and the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO) awarded a $5 million Michigan Revolution for Electrification of Vehicles Academy (MiREV), now called the EV Jobs Academy, grant to Southeast Michigan Community Alliance (SEMCA) to expand the states goals in electric vehicle and mobility by proactively developing workforce initiatives with employers.

SEMCA’s Workforce Intelligence Network (WIN) will use EV Jobs Academy funds to sustain and expand employer-led collaboratives designed to develop and initiate academies focused on closing industry-based skills gaps. This will be accomplished through attracting, upskilling and reskilling a mobility workforce across Michigan and through serving historically underserved populations while creating a talent pipeline needed for the electrification of vehicles.

The employer-led collaboratives will support EV Jobs Academy functions including developing a sustainability plan, coordinating and performing outreach events and supporting employer champions and industry experts in building, implementing and managing academies.

Employers interested in EV Jobs Academy employer-led collaboratives or other components of future efforts to support Michigan’s vehicle and mobility industry growth, can email info@winintelligence.org.
