Tech Trends & the Labor Market MAGMA Advisory Council Meeting

The Tech Trends & Labor Market MAGMA Advisory Council Meeting was recorded on June 7, 2024.

The panel began with Deloitte’s 15th annual Tech Trends report, which helps business and technology leaders distinguish between significant developments and mere hype, embracing technology’s evolution as a tool to revolutionize business. The Tech Trends report is organized around three elevating forces/enduring eternities (interaction, information, and computation) and three grounding/foundational forces (business of technology, core modernization, and cyber and trust). It highlights the stories of pioneering organizations that are ahead of the curve in utilizing new technologies and approaches, which are expected to become the norm within 18 to 24 months.

Next, we explored the “Projecting the Demand for Workers in the Production of Lithium-Ion Batteries in the United States” report by the W.E. Upjohn Institute, including the executive summary on the need for a large and specialized workforce for EV battery production.

Lastly, the session concluded with the Workforce Intelligence Network (WIN) Data and Research team showcasing the 2023 labor market highlights, analyzing key employment changes, hiring trends, and more.
